Senior Fruit and Vegetable Vouchers (Kenosha)

Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency (RKCAA) administers the Senior Fruit and Vegetable Voucher Program in the city of Kenosha. This program is funded through a grant from the Retirement Research Foundation. Through this grant, low income seniors are provided $20 in vouchers to be used to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables at the RKCAA Farm Stand (operated by the Green Acres Farms), Jerry Smith Farm and Green Acres Farms.
In addition to the vouchers, seniors are encouraged to visit the Teaching Kitchen to sample and receive recipes featuring locally grown fruit and vegetables, share tips with other seniors and young families and learn how to choose, store and cook locally grown produce. Produce can be cut, washed and brought to vehicles if needed.
Senior focused nutrition education classes are also available through the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension.
Registered nurses and registered dietitians are available to answer questions, provide services and make referrals.
