Parents serve as their own advocates to implement change. But all families need help at some time . The emphasis of Family Support Services is to assist parents in identifying their own strengths, challenges and interests and seek solutions to resolve conflicts that may arise in their lives accordingly. Family Support Workers aid families in fostering self-sufficiency and independence . Through R/K CAA direct services or through referrals to community agencies, family members regain opportunities for growth and change as well as sustain their pride as their child’s primary teacher and nurturer. Family Support services ensure that families receive the support and services outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards. This is accomplished in part through each enrolled family going through the Family Partnership Agreement Process, which develops a total profile of the family being served. This process offers aid in their efforts to improving the conditions and quality of family life. The Family Support Staff consists of the Parent Involvement/Family Support manager and eight full-time Family Support Workers.
