Rental Assistance

Kenosha Rental Assistance Program:

The rental assistance programs in Kenosha are a one-time financial assistance resource for clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Applicants must apply in the county where they live.

There are financial and non-financial eligibility requirements that a client must meet.

Financial Criteria:

Income guidelines established by Federal Poverty guidelines – specific to each funding source

Non-financial Criteria:

Verification of homelessness or impending homelessness

and Financial crisis that is beyond the control of the applicant.

Application process:

Clients will be asked to complete an application and meet with a housing specialist. Verification of the housing crisis should be brought along when completing the application. The housing specialist will provide the necessary forms for the landlord to complete. An appointment will be set up to complete the process. At the appointment information that is needed includes:

Picture ID
Social security cards for all adult members of the household
Income verification for the last 4 weeks
Lease
Proof of the eligible financial crisis (The reason the client was unable to pay the rent.)

The amount of financial assistance is determined by the number of eligible household members. Payment will be made directly to the property owner, if eligible for assistance.
