RKCAA Head Start is engaged in a pilot partnership to improve the school performance of children. Partners include: Racine Unified School District, Next Generation Now,21st Century Preparatory School, United Way of Racine County, and The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread. The partners have signed an agreement to use the same assessment tool, Ages and Stages, for four year olds in each program. The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread has been the convener and facilitator of the process. Parents of the children in the program are actively engaged and receive information on the assessment. If parents agree, the information is then shared with kindergarten teachers and provides one way to support children and parents in the transition into school.Feedback from receiving teachers will help 4K teachers and parents be equipped to improve the preparation for all children over time.
