The Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency, Inc. will serve as the clearinghouse for the Holiday Food Basket Program again this year. Sharon Schulz, Chief Executive Officer of CAA, states that the Holiday Food Basket Program is a joint effort with the City of Racine, Racine County, labor and civic groups, churches, schools, and businesses.
The Racine area Community Action Agency will start taking applications from families in need on October 1, of the calendar year. The deadline for all names will be November 25, of the calendar year. All persons must apply in person and will be required to provide identification, verification of household size, proof of current address, and household income, if any, will be requested. The applications will be completed by the CAA staff ONLY. Poverty guidelines will be used to establish eligible citizens.
Holiday Baskets will be Distributed on a First Come First Serve basis.
Businesses, churches, civic organizations, schools or private citizens who would like to help a family by providing a food basket through CAA or delivering it to a family, please call CAA at 637-8377 and you will be provided with a family name(s).
Anyone wishing to donate cash may submit a check to “Holiday Food Basket”, c/o Community Action Agency, Inc., 2113 N. Wisconsin Street, Racine, WI 53402. Anyone wishing to donate food may drop it off at CAA or call the above number and CAA will pick the food up.
