Rental Assistance Program Details

The goal of this program is to increase knowledge of renting and the rights and protections related to housing. Information and resources are provided to individuals and families to empower them in becoming self-sufficient.

Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency’s Housing Program provides assistance to prevent homelessness and to enable the homeless population to move steadily (transition) toward independent living (permanent housing).
 
 

RCAA/SA Rental Assistance Program: 

Provides emergency rental assistance to individuals/families who are subject to eviction or are homeless. The program assists with paying ½ month’s rent to a maximum of $250.00 which would either go towards back rent or help paying part of 1st month’s rent. 

Applications are taken at the Salvation Army Monday through Thursday from 9:00am – 2:00pm and Friday from 9:00am till 12:00pm. The SA is located at 1901 Washington Avenue, Racine, WI 53403.  An eviction notice, court papers or some type of verification stating requirement to move, ID, SS card, residency and income verification are needed to complete application.

 
R/K CAA Rental Assistance Program: 

Provides services for individuals and families who are at risk of becoming homeless. Services include payment of rental arrears up to $400.00 to avoid eviction, landlord/tenant mediation, housing counseling, information and referral.   The R/K CAA coordinates
services with Legal Action of WI, Inc. which provides legal representation to those being evicted.
 
Applications are taken at the R/K CAA Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:30pm. The R/K CAA is located at 2113 N. Wisconsin St, Racine, WI 53402. An eviction notice/court papers, ID, SS card, residency and income verification are needed to complete application.
