What is The Affordable Care Act?

Aka "Obamacare"

The Affordable Care Act expands access to health insurance, increases consumer protections and emphasizes prevention and wellness. It enables consumers to obtain affordable health insurance and provides for financial help in paying for premiums and out-of-pocket costs, depending on your income.

Approximately 85% of Wisconsin consumers who have signed up for a health insurance plan on the Marketplace have received financial help paying for their coverage.*

Additionally, the average monthly tax credit received by Wisconsin residents for 2016 coverage was $332.00.*
Why is it important to get covered with a quality health plan?

  • No one plans to get sick or hurt, but it happens. With health insurance from the Federal Marketplace, you can make sure you and your family members are protected against unexpected medical expenses.

  • All plans on the Marketplace cover free preventive care with no co-pay. This means free cancer screenings, check-ups and more. All plans also offer guaranteed essential benefits including low-or no-cost vaccines, screening tests, check-ups and more.

  • With health insurance, you won't be forced to put off a check-up or worry about going broke if you get sick.

  • No one can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition like high blood pressure or asthma. No American has to worry that losing a job will mean that he or she won’t qualify for health coverage.
