From the Desk of Ronald Tatum, CEO
Standing Together for Our Neighbors in Need
Across our communities in Racine and Kenosha, families are struggling in ways we have not seen in years. Calls for help are increasing. Parents are choosing between food and rent. Seniors are stretching medication longer than they should. And as disruptions continue to impact the SNAP program, more households are turning to organizations like ours for answers, support, and hope.
At Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency (RKCAA), we want our neighbors to know: you are not alone. We have taken a leadership role in coordinating the community response to the SNAP crisis—serving as a true resource hub, not just for those we directly serve, but for anyone in need of guidance, connection, or support. When someone calls our office, we don’t pass them along—we stay on the line. We walk with them until we find the right resource, the right partner, the right help.
But this challenge is bigger than any single agency. It requires unity, compassion, and collaboration across our entire nonprofit and civic landscape. To my fellow nonprofit leaders, faith-based partners, community organizations, and neighbors: now is the time to stand together. RKCAA is ready to work alongside you—to share resources, coordinate efforts, and ensure that every family in crisis finds a path forward.
This is not just about SNAP. It’s about human dignity. It’s about ensuring that no child goes hungry, no senior is forgotten, and no family falls through the cracks because the system failed them. Together, we can rise to meet this moment—stronger, more united, and more determined than ever to lift our communities up.
Let’s move forward together.
Because when we stand as one, we truly make change possible.
With gratitude and resolve,
Ronald Tatum
